Lynwood, CA

I was supposed to be a musician. When I was 16, I was gigging in Compton with my band and found a point-and-shoot camera on the floor. That’s where my interest in photography started, I had so much fun documenting my life as a teenager through photographs. After dropping out of music school when I was 19, I decided to push my love for photo and video. Eventually, I quit my day job to start my own business as a portrait photographer.

A lot of my work is focused around the places I was raised in, that being South Los Angeles. Not too many kids from my neighborhood are in the creative space so I feel like it’s important to document my area as a source of historical context. As a Chicano born and raised in Lynwood I do my best to represent my area and to show the world that we too can make it despite the challenges of growing up here.
